Privacy Statement

Personal financial information provided to the Office in connection with electronic or fax transactions is private and protected from disclosure by M.G.L. Chapter 4 Section 7 clause 26 (c) and the Fair Information Practices Act M.G.L. Chapter 66 A Section 2.  Protected information is used by state employees and agents only in the performance of their duties.  The state will not sell, share or rent personal financial information with two exceptions: The first is that we may employ a company to process credit card payments.  Second, such information may be released to comply with law, enforce our legal rights or protect the property or safety of our users or others or to law enforcement upon request.

You may contest the accuracy, pertinence, timeliness, relevance or dissemination of your personal financial information.  Such correction or amendment will be made unless the correction or amendment is disputed.  If such change is disputed, your correction or amendment will be noted and included with your personal financial information.

Security Statement

The SOC takes every precaution to protect our users' personal financial information.  When users submit such information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.

Sensitive payment information (such as credit card numbers) is encrypted and is protected with 128-bit encryption using SSL 3.0 during transmission to our server.  While on a secure page, such as our payment form, the lock icon at the bottom of Web browsers, such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, becomes locked.

All of our employees must follow the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Policy on Computer Use.

To submit filings with the SOC over the Internet, for security reasons, you must use a browser that supports 128-bit encryption and is configured to enable Java related technologies (minimum versions: Netscape 4.08, MS Internet Explorer 4.01 and American Online 4.0),  These requirements ensure the safety of your information and allow us to provide a user friendly web site.

Misuse of Filing System Disclaimer
