Privacy Statement

Personal financial information provided to the Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth in connection with electronic transactions is private and protected from disclosure by M.G.L. Chapter 4 § 7 (26)(c) and the Fair Information Practices Act M.G.L. Chapter 66A § 2.

Protected information is used by state employees and agents only in the performance of their duties. The Secretary of the Commonwealth will not sell, share, or rent personal financial information with limited exceptions. The Secretary of the Commonwealth may employ outside vendors to process credit card payments. Further, information may be released to comply with state or federal laws or law enforcement, enforce the Commonwealth’s legal rights, or protect the property or safety of users and others.

You may contest the accuracy, pertinence, timeliness, relevance or dissemination of your personal financial information. Such correction or amendment will be made unless the correction or amendment is disputed. If such change is disputed, your correction or amendment will be noted and included with your personal financial information.


Security Statement

The Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth takes every precaution to protect users' personal financial information. When you submit such information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Sensitive payment information (such as credit card numbers) is encrypted and is protected with SSL/TLS based encryption during transmission to our server. All of our employees must follow the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Policy on Computer Use.

For security reasons, to submit filings through this website, you must use a browser that supports SSL/TLS based encryption. The Office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth collects your full internet protocol address, browser type, and location information for purposes related to information and system security.

Misuse of Filing System Disclaimer

WARNING: By accessing this website, you consent to system monitoring for law enforcement and other purposes. Unauthorized use of or access to the site may subject you to criminal prosecution and penalties. Further, with regard to corporate filings, be advised that M.G.L. Chapter 156D § 1.29 makes it unlawful for anyone to sign a document that they know to be false in any material respect with intent that the document be delivered to the Secretary for filing. Such action is punishable by a fine of not more than $100,000.


Prohibited Activities

Using this service to expose the proprietary or confidential information of yourself or another person or entity is prohibited.

“Scraping” or “crawling,” whether by automated means or manually, to access, view, or collect information is prohibited.

Reverse-engineering, disassembling, decompiling, modifying, or creating derivative works is prohibited by applicable law.
