After the Midnight Ride, Revere is perhaps best known as a silversmith. It was his first artistic and business endeavor, beginning in childhood when Revere served as an apprentice to his father. After his father’s death, Revere took over the shop and built on the foundation his father created, turning it into a popular and respected establishment within Boston. Although most of his business came from the many small orders of spoons, buttons, and rings from everyday people, Revere also made several larger, more intricate tea sets for his wealthier patrons.
