I have engaged O’Neill Associates to assist me with a lobby to amend our Mass General Laws MGL) Chapter 149, Section 178, the Leave of Absence from work for voting statute.
This is highly outdated. I hope to make a positive case with respect to why the statute needs to be modernized and clarified to be relevant to 2021 employment standards and voting rights.
I began this initiative, “A Day For Democracy”, during the summer of 2020. It is a non-partisan mission focused simply on encouraging higher voter turnout by making it easier to vote. I took no outside monies and signed up 400 employers nationwide, incline many of Massachusetts’s venerable corporate employers, educational institutions, unions, professional sports teams, media organizations and non-profits... basically any and all organization that have employees.
Following the recent elections, I now plan to go state by state to petition State legislations to try to update and improve their voting statutes with respect to employee rights.
I began this lobbying effort with O’Neill and Associates this week. I am starting with Massachusetts, wherein I have resided my entire life.
Respectfully,
Peter Palandjian
