lobbying in support of Friends-Boston in the State Budget for fiscal year ’24 and other appropriation bills, including but not limited to the City of Boston’s budget, supplemental budgets, bond bills and special legislation, including:
• Strategy and implementing a reintroduction of Friends-Boston, its mission and goals to elected officials at the City and State level. This will include visits to City Hall and the State House, but also, inviting elected to visit our sites (Roxbury and East Boston).
• Meetings with key legislative leaders in both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and State Senate that have connections to the students and sites Friends-Boston serve;
• Meetings with key decision makers included in the fiscal appropriations bill in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and State Senate;
• Strategic Counsel and advise in determining the request amount for the line item to be requested in each of the chamber’s budgets;
• Traditional lobbying and monitoring efforts by Commonwealth Counsel after the filing and through to the completion of both budgets in each respective chamber, conference committee, engrossment, enactment and the gubernatorial privilege of vetos, overrides and 9C cuts;
• Strategic counsel, advise and lobbying efforts with the City of Boston including the Mayor’s office, City Council and Boston Public School System;
• Strategic counsel, advise and lobbying efforts on all other policy, legislation or proposals whichCommonwealth Counsel and Friends-Boston agree to be in the purview of Friends-Boston’s mission;
• And, a biweekly conference or teleconference to discuss strategy
