Early Voting

Massachusetts now has early voting for all state primaries and elections!

Early voting is a way for you to vote before Election Day, at your own convenience. You can vote early by mail or in-person. You do not need to have an excuse to cast an early ballot.

To vote early by mail, complete a Vote by Mail Application and submit it to your local elections office during an early voting period.

To vote early in person, visit an early voting site in your city or town during an early voting period. You can find your community’s State Primary early location using our Early Voting search tool.

Early Voting Schedules

Find your community’s State Primary early voting schedule and locations using our online-lookup tool.

Each city and town chooses their own early voting locations and sets their own schedules, but every community needs to offer early voting for a minimum number of hours, which is based on the number of voters in that city or town. All communities are also required to offer weekend early voting hours.

Remember that early voting may not be available in your city or town on every day of the early voting period. Check your community's schedule when available to make a plan to vote.
