The City of Boston, through its Transportation Department ("BTD"), seeks bids for the disposal of motor vehicles declared abandoned and disposed of as refuse, as provided in St. 1988, c. 212 and M.G.L. c. 90, ยง 22C. BTD has the statutory responsibility to retrieve abandoned vehicles in the City and each year BTD retrieves such vehicles from City streets and private property. Some of these vehicles are returned to owners; some are auctioned through the Boston Police Department; and the remainder, are disposed of as refuse. It is of critical importance that such vehicles designated for disposal are removed promptly and in a timely fashion, due to BTD's limited storage capacity and other ongoing operations occurring at the BTD Tow Lot. |
