Lobbyist will lobby on behalf of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA), including against legislative proposals which negatively impact immigrants' rights and health (for example public housing restrictions and other proposals to restrict immigrant access to public programs), and in favor of MIRA's priority legislation, including the Safe Communities Act (sponsored by Sen. Jamie Eldridge and Rep. Juana Matias), an Act to Increase Access to Health Care in Underserved Areas of Massachusetts (sponsored by Sen. Jason Lewis and Rep. Jack Lewis), and An Act Authorizing Dental Therapists to Expand Access to Oral Health (sponsored by Sen. Harriette Chandler and Rep. Smitty Pignatelli). Lobbyist will lobby the Senate President, the House Speaker, the Chairs of the Public Health Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee; and any other subsequent committees with jurisdiction over these bills as needed.
Lobbyist will also lobby in favor of the following line items in the budget: 4003-0122, 7035-0002, 4513-1130, 4401-1000.
In addition, lobbyist will lobby legislatively and administratively for agency policies and programs that support and allow participation of immigrant and mixed status families, and against agency policies and programs that harm immigrant and mixed status families. It is likely that developments at the state and federal levels will also engage this lobbyist in legislative and/or administrative lobbying with regard to state proposals that impact immigrants but are not specifically contemplated at the time of registration.
