01/01/2019 Mr. Kane is the Director of the Mass Alliance of HUD Tenants, a small nonprofit tenants advocacy organization. Mr. Kane may will represent MAHT in supporting or opposing housing related legislation that bears on tenants rights and/or resources for housing affordable to low and moderate income people. Mr. Kane will advocate for expansion and reform of the Mass Rental Voucher Program, a line item in the state budget. Mr. Kane will also advocate for a statewide enabling act and home rule petitions to establish a tax on real estate speculation. Mr. Kane will also periodically advocate with state agencies such as the Department of Housing and Community Development and Mass Housing on behalf of tenants and tenant groups trying to save and improve their homes and to obtain outreach and training contracts from the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation and MassHousing. Mr. Kane will also advocate for legislation expected to be filed in 2019 to combat bullying in elderly and handicapped subsidized housing developments.
