Executive Chapter 144 of the Acts of 2014 Neutral $0.00 N/A
Executive We oppose recommendations of the Bottle Deposit Law Working Group which was created by the Joint Committee of Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy Committee. This small working group was tasked with developing a compromise for expanding the bottle deposit law that would also mitigates costs for bottlers. Members of the working group included Rep. Jennifer Benson, Rep. Randy Hunt, Senator Jamie Eldridge and Senator Eileen Donoghue. Steve Boksanski, representing the MA Beverage Association, met with the members of the task force to state the Association's opposition to the expansion of the current bottle bill law. The Association would rather invest in comprehensive recycling and proven curbside recycling programs and the innovative technology that would allow Massachusetts to be a leader in recycling. Expansion of the Bottle Bill would increase grocery bills by $68 million and only improve the state's recycling rate by less than 1 percent. Oppose $0.00 N/A
