Archival Field Fellowships

The Archival Field Fellowships (AFF) program provides support to cultural heritage institutions and to emerging archival professionals by bringing them together to process archival collections. Accepted institutional applicants to the program will receive funding for the purchase of supplies through a SHRAB regrant to arrange, describe, preserve, and make accessible archival collections. The institution will also be paired with a paid Archival Field Fellow trained in archival management who will rehouse and process a collection using the supplies. Accepted Field Fellows applicants will receive on-site experience processing an archival collection and will be supervised remotely by the Roving Archivist. This program thus increases hands-on assistance to Massachusetts cultural heritage repositories while offering mentorship and experience to early professionals. This new SHRAB offering is made possible with grant funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
