William Lloyd Garrison

Picture of William Lloyd Garrison Massachusetts became a center of the anti-slavery movement and William Lloyd Garrison, editor of The Liberator, became the voice of radical abolitionists. Garrison denounced the U.S. Constitution as undemocratic because it condoned slavery. Calling the Constitution a "covenant with death," Garrison burned it in the streets.
