War was a vivid and frightening reality in 18th century Massachusetts. Native warriors sought to reclaim lost land, often joining with France to block English expansion. Native nations also fought independently. In the 1720s the Wabanaki alliance waged war against Massachusetts.

During the French and Indian War (1756-1763) Britain pursued a decisive vistory at great Financial cost, while merchants like John Hancock grew richer supplying British Forces. At war's end Britain controlled a vast worls empire.
