The Massachusetts Office of Information Technology, known as MassIT, is the state’s lead executive agency for technology and innovation. The Commonwealth Chief Information Officer serves as agency head for MassIT. MassIT was created as the successor to the state’s former IT services agency, the Information Technology Division (ITD), by legislation passed in 2014. MassIT’s mission is to drive the digital business of state government to meet the continually evolving needs of constituents, schools, businesses, and local government. In addition, MassIT acts as an internal centralized provider of technology services to state entities, sets technology policies and standards, and provides oversight for IT procurement, vendor and contract management, and project management. As an IT service provider, MassIT’s Mass.gov team supports the technology behind the Mass.gov website. For Mass.gov inquiries, please use this contact form. MassIT also manages MassData, a Commonwealth open data portal, and is home to the Commonwealth’s Office of Geographic Information, called MassGIS, as well as the Office of Municipal & School Technology (see below). To provide feedback to MassIT, please use this feedback form.
