An Act relative to dropout prevention and recovery; Mass Mentoring Partnership aims to push forward state legislation that will deeply embed developmental relationships in schools as a response to high dropout rates. This bill calls on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to place mentoring relationships as a solution to chronic absence, providing young people with wraparound, social-emotional supports to be successful in school. MMP's efforts have included promoting the recommendations made by our partner programs to include appropriate professional development for graduation coaches, and launching public awareness campaigns of the importance of this legislation and garnering support among stakeholders in government, and communities.
