The Executive Bureau of the
Attorney General’s Office provides overall administration management, policy
setting, staff supervision and employee training. Divisions within the Executive
Bureau include the First Assistant and the Chief of Staff, Policy and
Government, Community Information and Education, Information Technology, Human
Resources, the Communications Division, the Finance Division, as well as the
Victim-Witness Services Division.
The Business and Labor Bureau is comprised of the Business, Technology and
Economic Development Division, the Energy and Telecommunications Division, the
Medicaid Fraud Division, the Public Charities Division, and the Fair Labor
Division, which address wage and hour and prevailing wage issues and complaints.
The Criminal Bureau includes the Cybercrime Division, the Environmental Crimes Strike Force, the Financial Investigations Division, the Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Division, the Special Investigations and Narcotics Division, the Appeals Division, a State Police Unit, and also hosts the Safe Neighborhood Initiative. The Bureau is also charged with implementing provisions of the state's Victims of Violent Crime Compensation Act.
The Government Bureau represents state officials and agencies in state and federal trial and appellate courts concerning the legality of governmental operations, through its Trial Division and Administrative Law Division.
The Public Protection and Advocacy Bureau includes the Antitrust Division, the Civil Rights Division, the Consumer Protection Division, the Environmental Protection Division, and the new Health Care Division. The Bureau of Public Protection and Advocacy also addresses insurance and financial services issues and houses its own Investigations Division.
