Extension Activities

Map Extension Activities

  1. Create a map museum by collecting many different maps and display them in your classroom.
  2.  Students draw a map of their room, classroom, or neighborhood. They should try to include a key, cartouche, symbols, scale grid, etc.
  3.  Collect various maps of your town or city. Compare a current map with one from years ago. Reflect on similarities and differences. Have students imagine how their town will change in 50 or 100 years and reflect those changes in a map of their town in the future.
  4. Research the Points of Interest labeled on the map you made. Add additional POI that you think are important or that interest you.
