The Commonwealth Museum presents the watercolor paintings of Louis Fuertes, an American ornithologist, illustrator, and artist. Many experts consider Fuertes to be one of the top five painters of bird art. His gouache watercolor paintings are considered to be some of the most accurate and natural depictions of birds in their natural habitat. This is the first time the paintings have been displayed in decades. The Commonwealth has partnered with Massachusetts Audubon for story lines on each bird species.

The exhibit can been viewed at the Commonwealth Museum which is located at the Massachusetts Archives Building between UMass Boston and the JFK Library at 220 Morrissey Blvd., Boston. Public transportation is available on the Red Line.

The exhibit is located on the 2nd floor mezzanine and can be viewed Monday–Friday between the hours of 9–5pm.
