The Massachusetts Historical Commission consists of 17 members appointed from various disciplines who serve as the State Review Board for state and federal preservation programs. Secretary of the Commonwealth William Francis Galvin chairs the Commission.
The State Review Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month (except May, July, and August) to discuss and vote on nominations to the National Register of Historic Places as well as other preservation issues depending on the agenda for that month.
