The New and Leased Car Lemon Law and the Used Vehicle Warranty Law mandate a state-sponsored arbitration program to resolve disputes between consumers and manufacturers or dealers. A neutral arbitrator will hear both sides of a case to determine whether or not a vehicle qualifies for a refund or replacement under the respective laws. The Office of Consumer Affairs provides general information about the New and Leased Car Lemon Law, MGL Ch. 90:7N1/2, Lemon Aid Law for used cars (MGL Ch. 90:7N), and the Used Vehicle Warranty Law, MGL Ch. 90:7N1/4, and provides administrative services of the arbitration program and recruits and trains pro bono arbitrators to hear the cases.
