This division enforces laws relating to weights and measures and the accuracy of weighing and measuring devices, such as scales and metering systems used in the sale of food, fuels, and other products. It regulates the retail sale of gasoline and motor oil; regulates and enforces both unit pricing and item pricing on store scanners and registers; issues permits to manufacturers and distributors of antifreeze; tests and approves coin-operated machinery; and licenses transient vendors and hawkers and peddlers. This division also grants licenses to auctioneers while cities and towns grant permits for the conduct of auctions.
