The division administers the laws regarding the provision of long-term care in nursing and rest homes. It surveys and licenses these homes evaluating nursing, dietary, sanitation, rehabilitation, physicians', laboratory, and pharmacy services. This division accepts complaints and questions concerning the long-term care facilities it regulates. The department publishes a list by city and town of licensed nursing homes. The division approves nursing and rest homes for Medicare certification. In addition, it implements testing, training, and registration of all nurse aides working in long-term care facilities.
