The CAR SAFE help-line is a toll-free number serving residents of the state who have questions about child passenger safety.  Callers leave a message and are contacted within a week.   It answers specific questions about child safety seats, distributes educational flyers and brochures relating to keeping children safe in the car and refers callers to local child passenger safety technician if in-person installation help is needed.  The help-line is a service of the Injury Prevention and Control Program within the Department of Public Health, which collaborates with passenger safety programs across the state.  It coordinates with the Massachusetts Partnership for Child Passenger Safety, and participates in the various safety coalitions throughout the state and New England region.  For information on the child passenger safety law requiring children five years of age and under to be protected by an approved child passenger restraint or properly fastened seat belt and children twelve years of age and under to be fastened in a seat belt when riding in a motor vehicle, contact the center whose goal is to increase the use of car seats and seat belts.
